During the first weekend of December the Form 1 students together with their teachers had a unique Lassalian live in at the newly refurbished Brother’s house in Mellieha. The students meditated and prayed, and all this was accompanied by lots of fun and games before sleeping time.

Learning history in a different way

imageHistory and local culture can be taught in various innovative ways, and this was the case during one particular morning at Stella Maris College. Salvu Mallia, a renowned Maltese actor together with a great cast put up together an interesting but comical play which told the Maltese history from its early origins up till present day. The students were nailed to the performance as they saw and heard history being performed in a different way.

The form 3’s have experienced one of the many live in’s organized by the college. During this time the boys together with their teachers were exposed to the Lassalian beliefs as well as given spiritual skills for everyday life. All this was accompanied by fun moments such as the hike as well as indoor games.

A few weeks before the Christmas holidays, the students from the form two section took part in a crib competition. This was taken up during there break time, during school hours. Form two red won the competition after the best crib was chosen by the school administration.

Saying bye is always hard, especially when a strong bond has been built over the years! A farewell celebration put up by the college stuff to wish luck to our form five students who will be doing their O’ levels shortly. Good Luck to you all, you will be missed by all.

Ash Wednesday at Stella Maris College.

imageAsh Wednesday is an important event in the College calendar as it gives a unique time for the students to reflect upon lent and sacrifice. Mass was held for all the senior students which was animated by the students themselves.

His Excellency Dr. George Abela on the 5th of December made a historic visit at the College. Dr. Abela was greeted by Brother Director and the De La Salle Brothers, including both heads of schools. The president was shown around the college and finally made his way in the college’s largest hall where he met the senior schools students. Dr. Abela was presented with two paintings and a tree was planted in the college gardens to commemorate this occasion.
